Tapu Valley Coromandel




I think its ok to put this in the garden group, its winter here you see, & perhaps this is a little out side the square , perhaps in the wild garden section or the mountain garden , oh shucks hope you enjoy, ty, I was going through some of my Pics and one stood out real good to me, i took them about oh 5 years ago ,I find with pic's as the years roll by they seem to have more apeall,& you say to your self well that's nice , so thought i could share

  1. a hundred years ago, in the summer school holidays our family would pile in a MK2 Zephyr and trek from Hawkes Bay to Tapu for a couple of weeks. From memory it took near on 10 to 12 hours to get there, the car used to boil at the same point along the Napier-Taupo road, which in those days was real car sick material, and we went through our repitoire of travelling songs many times over before we finaly got there. Friends of the family had a farm at Tapu. I remember old tram carriages that we used to play in. We had good times at Tapu, and seeing these photos reminded me of those summer days..Thankyou for that.

  2. itzdapapparazi, nice to know some one older than me hehe,Oh the Mk2 Zephyr, yes great car i had one of them i put a MK3 gear box in it plus twin carbs 3/4, inch rayomnd head for got what it was called ,raced it at Kopu race track the drag strip there. Say a long trip to Tapu well worth it right.Say i was living in one of these tram cars for 3 years at tramcar city Waikawau bay thames coast loved it was in No 3 tramcar , that's how i got my nic ( Lazy Tramcar ) I might post some pics later if you like ? there are still 23 tramcars there but now they look more like homes , ive been going down there the last 3 days in my modest motor home being Lazy ...

  3. OKKKKKKK i dont know if i am older than you.. so you know....dont judge an age by a car, The car might have been reallllllllly old when we got it!!!!! I havent been up that way for years and i would love to see more pictures
