These aren't recent. I was looking for a photo and stumbled up this file, these are from fall 2009. I just thought it would be a nice reminder of things coming soon. These may have been the only varieties I had at the time. I'm not sure and it's to early to think that far back, ya know.
Is the Don Juan a climber?
ReplyDeleteNice photo
ReplyDeleteanother nice photo in my favorite red color
ReplyDeleteIt's in the climber family. More specifically it's a pillar rose, long canes but stiffer than climbers and not quite as tall. It's probably my favorite red rose, it's very fragrant and holds it's color well.
ReplyDeleteYou have some awesome roses in your garden Vic. So so pretty all of them. I am a sucker for a pretty rose always.
ReplyDeleteActually you gave me a thought here....
How about I make a rose album in GG using roses from all our gardens?
I have some in my archives and am happy to add to what you have already offered up here.
We must we able to name our roses that will be a stipulation of submitting to the album.
Thanks Milli and I think a communal rose album is a grand idea. There's much importance to being able to name your variety in a forum such as this. We aren't near enough to each other to be able to share cuttings, should we like a particular rose posted the name is all we have to go by to hunt for it. Many, however do not know the varieties, I myself have cuttings rooted which I've aquired from others but do not know the name. Perhaps later, in a seperate forum, we can join heads and help identify them.
ReplyDeleteTho I grow a few edibles and many other ornamentals the rose, by far, holds my interest the most and I hope not to bore people with rose posts here. I now have 22 cultivars (one i do not know the name of) several new cuttings and intend to attempt cross pollinating this year.
The rose album named varieties is on then Vic. The forum for unknown roses is a doer too.
ReplyDeleteA great plan for the near future and 22 roses you sure do have a fabulous garden show there in spring and I for one can't wait to see your roses a blooming.
