I understand how different it is in the Northern Hemisphere to come to terms with us being in Autumn down here in South Australia but it is a fact and I hope you like this little bit of Autumn colour to enjoy along with your Spring colour. Milli. 11
Pink Gum Tree Blossom's they are out on the trees right now. You can see the forming of the Gumnut there in the photo too. A truly delightful book was written about the Gumnut babies and you can read about the author here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Gibbs
Hibiscus Mutabalis - also called the Confederate Rose or Cotton Rose says one book on New Zealand shrubs. My other book says, Hibiscus Syriacus but also Rose of Sharon. There are quite a few different varieties. We have a lot of single ones, like your photo in flower down at the Heritage House at the moment. I prefer the double variety and found it was prone to borer. It really needs its heavy winter pruning. They are easy to propogate from cuttings.
Thank You Lois. I am happy that you enjoyed our walk. I really love the Hibiscus you and Mia have named for me here. I think I need to look at getting one of these. Glorious.
Does any one know the name of this tree?
